Invictus Dragon Boat Club

Invictus Dragon Boat Club was established in March 2020 with a vision to introduce the sport of dragon boating to more Canberrans, encourage ex-paddlers back to the sport and provide opportunities for our members and interstate club members to broaden their paddling experiences by competing at local, interstate and international events. We are a friendly, vibrant club with an amazing team spirit. Our team strength and unity has seen us improve every year and some might say we are a club to watch!

We train and race hard, with our results reflecting our core values of inclusiveness, commitment and strength. Our members’ dedication has resulted in several of our members competing with the 2024 ACT State Crews across senior categories.

The Invictus Senior A Women's crews hard work paid off in 2024 with them acheiving a gold medal and the title of Australian Champions in the 200m and 500m small boat categories, and our Premier Women's crews achieved the gold medal and title of Australian Champions in the 200m, 500m and 2000m small boat categories at the Australian Dragon Boat Championships 2024.

Our name is inspired by Invictus written by William Henley the last two lines are our Club motto - "I am the master of my fate ... I am the captain of my soul".

If you have the drive to compete and are looking for friendship and fitness, Invictus is the club for you!!

   As a club we are committed to:

  • ensuring that all members are given the opportunity to realise their full potential, both mentally and physically:
  • providing the opportunity for members to train on a regular basis;
  • assisting DBACT to promote dragon boat paddling within the ACT;
  • developing the crew both mentally and physically ito compete at a high level;
  • providing opportunities for those paddlers who have undertaken a Sweep or Coach Accreditation course, to develop their skills further; and
  • providing opportunities to give back to our broader community by emphasising the benefits of exercise and physical fitness on health and well-being while minimise barriers to participation.

We’re recruiting ex-paddlers and rookies to join our experienced members to compete in:

  • Dragon Boat ACT regattas
  • Regional regattas
  • AusDBF Australian Championships
  • Non-AusDBF events such as the Annual China Tour, the Ord River Marathon, PanPacs and World Masters Games
