Invictus have had an amazing week competing at the 2024 Australian Dragon Boat Championships at Champion Lakes, Perth Western Australia in our final competition of the 2023-24 season. Our Senior A Women's crew retained their 2023 Small Boat 200m Australian Championship title and added to it with a win in the 500m small boat category. Our Premier Women's crews also took out the Australian Championship titles in the 200m, 500m and 2000m small boat categories. What an amazing achievement from our crew who will represent Invictus at the 2024 World Club Crew Championships in Ravenna, Italy in September!

While the medals are great, that's just the small stuff. What made this campaign so special was the commitment, camaraderie and support for all of our crews. This year we were able to enter Senior B (50+) Mixed, Women's and Opens small boat crews for the first time. The Senior B Mixed crew made it through to the repechage over 200m and 500m, and finished sixth in the 2000m event with a time of 11.37.29. Our Senior B Women's crew made it to the 200m repechage after an eventful heat which saw them capsize just metres from the finish line. In the 500m event, the women again made it to the repechage and shaved an impressive 11 seconds off their heat time with only eight paddlers in the boat! Our Senior B Opens crews also made the repechage in both the 200m and 500m events. A great effort from all of our Senior Bs competing in this division.

Invictus was also well represented in the ACT State squad, with members participating in Senior B, Senior C and Premier categories, with the Senior C Women bringing home gold.

For some of our members, this was their first experience at an Australian Championships and we have all been inspired by what we achieved as a Club.

We're now taking a short break off the water, but can't wait to be back in the boat soon to build on our super successful 2023-24 season.
